Both teams staged an amazing encounter, much like nearly every other episode of the matchup between the two most successful sides in the competition’s history. But in the end, the Men in Yellow emerged victorious, defeating MI by a score of 20 runs.
The outcome may indicate that CSK was the superior team that day, yet one MI player persisted until the very last ball. Rohit Sharma, the former captain of MI, achieved his second IPL hundred, displaying class. Nevertheless, his innings was in vain as Mumbai ultimately lost. With 61 deliveries, the Hitman reached the milestone and was undefeated at 105 off 63 balls. But MI, needing to score 207 to win, could only manage 186/6.
When Rohit reached his ton in the final over, he realized that his side would not be able to cross the finish line with just his knock, so he chose not to lift his bat to celebrate breaking his own record. After exceeding the three-figure threshold, Rohit did little more than shake hands with his non-striking partner, Muhammad Nabi.
