President Droupadi Murmu said indigenous lifestyles rooted in nature can ensure global peace and harmony amid rising global tensions.
President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday highlighted that the traditional way of life followed by indigenous communities, deeply connected with nature, can play a crucial role in achieving global peace and harmony.
She made these remarks while addressing a programme titled “Empowerment of Tribal Society by Spiritual Awakening” organized by the Brahma Kumaris in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh.
Tribal Communities Represent Harmony with Nature
President Droupadi Murmu said that tribal and forest-dwelling communities maintain a lifestyle that reflects balance, peace, and respect for nature.
She noted that indigenous people worship natural elements such as the earth, sun, water, and trees, and use natural resources responsibly, taking only what is necessary and offering respect before cutting trees.
Simplicity and Self-Respect in Tribal Life
According to the President, indigenous communities live with simplicity, patience, and dignity. She emphasized that they rarely complain about hardships and prefer to live in harmony with their surroundings.
She added that their way of life reflects values of non-violence, self-reliance, and coexistence with nature, which are increasingly relevant in today’s materialistic world.

President Droupadi Murmu stressed that spiritual awareness is essential in modern society, especially in a world driven by consumption and rapid development.
She said such awareness helps build sustainable lifestyles and encourages responsible use of natural resources, which is critical in addressing global conflicts and environmental challenges.

Return to Organic Farming Practices
Highlighting agricultural concerns, the President pointed out that excessive use of chemical pesticides is damaging soil fertility. She said many traditional communities have long practiced organic farming methods.
She observed that there is now a global shift back toward organic and natural farming practices.
Appreciation for Brahma Kumaris
President Droupadi Murmu appreciated the efforts of the Brahma Kumaris organization for working towards the upliftment and empowerment of tribal communities.
The event was also attended by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel and Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durga Das Uikey.
Presidential Visit to Madhya Pradesh
The President is currently on a five-day visit to Madhya Pradesh, during which she is scheduled to participate in various programmes, offer prayers at Omkareshwar, and visit Kuno National Park.
