Delhi Court declares Arvind Kejriwal innocent; AAP leaders Chhatar Vasava and Hemant Khwa condemn ED misuse for political revenge, uphold democracy.
The Delhi Court recently declared Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal innocent in a high-profile case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The verdict has sparked strong reactions from AAP leaders, including Chhatar Vasava and Hemant Khwa, who criticized the misuse of investigative agencies for political purposes.
AAP MLA Chhatar Vasava condemned the political exploitation of the ED, saying that since the BJP came to power, opposition legislators, MPs, and leaders have been harassed and intimidated using agencies like the ED. He added that ED raids are often targeted only at opposition leaders, especially in election-bound states, while leaders who join the BJP appear to have their corruption cases mysteriously “washed away.”
Vasava highlighted the ordeal faced by Arvind Kejriwal, stating, “Even though he was the Chief Minister, he and his ministers were jailed for nearly six months. The ED could not produce any evidence of wrongdoing. Yesterday’s verdict proves that this was purely a case of political revenge. This sends a clear message to the BJP and its governments that democracy and the Constitution are not the private property of any political party.”
Hemant Khwa, AAP MLA from Jamjodhpur, also reacted, stating, “Truth may be troubled, but it can never be defeated. Today, it has been proven once again that India’s judicial system is alive and independent. We thank the Delhi High Court for dismissing the false cases filed against Arvind Kejriwal by the BJP and the ED. Arvind Kejriwal represents an idea, and no idea can ever be imprisoned.”
Both leaders emphasized that attempts to intimidate opposition figures through politically motivated investigations undermine democracy. The court’s verdict not only vindicates Arvind Kejriwal but also reinforces the independence of India’s judicial system.
The reactions from AAP leaders underline the party’s stance that political retaliation through government agencies cannot suppress truth and that the democratic institutions of the country remain resilient.
