Haridwar witnessed a heartwarming event as farmers honored Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami with the prestigious title of ‘Kisan Putra’ by offering sugarcane during his visit. CM Dhami stated that the state government has fixed the sugarcane price higher than that of Uttar Pradesh, reaffirming its commitment to safeguard farmers’ interests and ensure timely payments.

The announcement of a historic increase of ₹30 per quintal, bringing the sugarcane price to ₹405 per quintal, was warmly received by the farmers. On his arrival at Gurukul Kangri University’s sports ground in Haridwar, CM Dhami was greeted with flowers and sugarcane by a large gathering of farmers, local legislators, gram panchayat members, and community leaders.

During the ceremony, CM Dhami said, “Since assuming office in 2021, I had decided that Uttarakhand would offer a higher sugarcane price than Uttar Pradesh. Today, that decision has been realized with sugarcane now priced at ₹405 per quintal.” He highlighted the importance of farmers in the state’s economy and expressed gratitude for their support.
