Silver Prices Also Crash
Silver prices also saw a steep decline. On MCX, silver fell to around ₹2,37,620 per kilogram, while in domestic markets it ranged between ₹2,38,700 and ₹2,59,900 per kilogram.
Silver ETFs also witnessed nearly 5% selling pressure, indicating weak investor sentiment.
Why Are Gold and Silver Prices Falling?
Experts say the decline is due to several key factors:
- Profit booking after recent record-high levels
- A temporary slowdown in seasonal demand (wedding season shift)
- Signals from the US Federal Reserve about possible interest rate hikes
- Investors shifting from gold to government bonds and yield-based assets
When interest rates rise, gold becomes less attractive as it does not offer returns, leading to lower demand and falling prices.
Market Outlook
Analysts believe gold and silver prices may remain volatile in the coming days as global economic cues and domestic demand continue to influence the market trend.
