The Haryana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has approved a proposal to provide stamp duty and registration fee concessions under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0. The decision is aimed at making home ownership more affordable for eligible beneficiaries from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
Major Relief for Homebuyers
The Cabinet approved a simplified framework that includes exemptions in stamp duty and registration charges, along with the fixation of a nominal registration fee for eligible beneficiaries under PMAY-Urban 2.0.
The move is expected to reduce the financial burden associated with purchasing a house, making the process easier and more accessible for low-income families.
Financial Support for EWS Families
According to the state government, the decision will directly benefit EWS category beneficiaries by lowering transaction costs during property registration. Reduced registration expenses will encourage more eligible families to own permanent homes under the central housing scheme.
