Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. T.V.S.N. Prasad said that the state government is committed to ensure cleanliness and strong drainage system in Gurugram city. Besides this, the number of sanitation vehicles will be increased for door-to-door garbage collection, assured Sh. T.V.S.N. Prasad while holding meeting with eminent citizens of Gurugram city on Sunday.
Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. T.V.S.N. Prasad directed the formation of a three-member committee in the meeting, which will set standards for sanitation vehicles to collect door-to-door garbage. Subsequently, Gurugram Municipal Corporation will issue a public advertisement. Under this, any agency, RWA, institution, or any individual provides a vehicle of prescribed capacity along with a driver to the municipal corporation for door-to-door garbage collection, it will be paid on a monthly basis as per the rate fixed by the committee.
The Haryana Chief Secretary said that it is mandatory for these vehicles to have GPS installed so that their location can be continuously tracked, with their link made available in the public domain for citizens’ information. The minimum service period for vehicles used in this work in Gurugram city will be set for at least three years. The number of vehicles collecting door to door garbage in Gurugram city should be up to one thousand, said Sh. T.V.S.N. Prasad.
The Haryana Chief Secretary also took note of the problem of waterlogging during the rains in Gurugram city and obtained information from officers regarding arrangements for drainage and cleaning of drains. He said that if any agency mishandles drainage cleaning work, action will be taken against it.
In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav informed that 112 critical points prone to waterlogging have been identified in the district, and IAS, HCS, and other senior officials have been assigned duty to monitor these locations.
Municipal Commissioner, Dr. Narhari Singh Bangar stated that in Gurugram city, four major and nearly 600 kilometres of smaller drains are used for drainage work. Tenders have already been issued for cleaning all drains, and cleaning work is underway. In this regard, the Chief Secretary directed to assign an SDO or other officer duty every 10 to 20 kilometres of drain length, who will report on the daily progress of cleaning work. Action will be taken against any agency found mishandling this work.
In the meeting, the demand of Gurugram Municipal Corporation for the procurement of 40 compactors and suction machines was also instructed to proceed.
The Haryana Chief Secretary directed the officers concerned to prepare a plan to correct the waste disposal plant at Bandhwari landfill site with cleanliness and environmental experts present in the meeting. He also carefully listened to suggestions from those present in the meeting and assured citizens that he would continue to hold weekly online or offline meetings.
On this occasion, Divisional Commissioner, Gurugram, Sh. R.C. Bidhan and other officers of the District Administration also remained present on this occasion.
