Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended the 77th State-Level Van Mahotsav in Karnal as the chief guest, reaffirming the state’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development. Addressing the gathering, he stressed that protecting nature is a shared responsibility and called for greater public participation in combating climate change.
The Chief Minister said that climate change has become a global challenge and cannot be addressed through government policies alone. He emphasized that meaningful public involvement is essential to building a greener and more sustainable future.

‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Turned into a People’s Movement
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, CM Saini said Haryana has transformed the initiative into a mass movement across the state.
He informed that during the 2025-26 plantation drive, 1.52 crore saplings have been planted across Haryana. According to the Chief Minister, the large-scale plantation campaign reflects the government’s commitment to increasing green cover and encouraging citizens to actively contribute to environmental protection.
Public Participation Key to Tackling Climate Change
Speaking at the event, CM Saini said climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing the world today. He noted that sustainable environmental protection requires active participation from every section of society.
He urged citizens, educational institutions and social organizations to continue planting trees and ensure their proper care, adding that collective efforts can create a lasting positive impact on the environment.
Drain No. 1 and Drain No. 2 to Be Renovated
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also announced the renovation of Drain No. 1 and Drain No. 2 in Karnal.
The proposed upgrade aims to improve the drainage system, strengthen infrastructure and provide better civic facilities to local residents. The announcement is expected to support both environmental management and urban development in the region.

The State-Level Van Mahotsav served as a platform to promote environmental awareness and reinforce Haryana’s commitment to sustainable growth.
