Under the Haryana Uday Programme, a Youth Marathon was organized on Sunday in Dabwali, Sirsa, where Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini flagged off the event and also participated by running alongside the youth to inspire them.
Haryana CM Nayab : The marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from residents, especially youngsters. The event began at 5 AM with a half marathon, followed by 10 km and 5 km races, reflecting the energy and excitement of the participants.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that drugs are a dangerous social evil that weakens society and destroys the future of youth. He emphasized that both the Central and State governments are committed to eradicating this menace by turning the anti-drug movement into a mass campaign. Drawing parallels with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India Movement, he said Haryana has launched unique initiatives like Raahgiri, Cyclothon, Marathon, and Dhakad to combat drug abuse.
Highlighting the progress of Haryana Uday, Saini informed that 2,482 programmes have already been held across the state with the participation of more than 16.5 lakh people. To break the drug supply chain, strict action is being taken against major suppliers through Anti-Narcotics Cells at the district, range, and state levels. At the same time, the state is running several rehabilitation programmes, with 162 de-addiction centres functional, along with dedicated wards in medical colleges and 13 district hospitals. He added that, as a result of these initiatives, 3,350 villages and 876 urban wards have already been declared drug-free.
On this occasion, CM Saini administered the Drug-Free Haryana pledge to the public. Over 35 Sarpanches participated in the event and honoured the Chief Minister with a turban. The programme also featured performances by popular singers MD (Desi Rock Star) and Subhash Fauji, who raised awareness against drugs through their music. KL Theatre staged a play titled “Nasha Ek Abhishaap”, while school children presented cultural performances.

Half Marathon (Men): Mohit Kumar secured first place (1:10:39), followed by Jaswant (1:12:50) and Ram Swaroop (1:18:37).

Half Marathon (Women): Tamshi Singh came first (1:29:43), Jaspreet second (2:14:28), and Rajvinder third (2:18:00).

10 km Race (Men): Mohan topped the race (31:17), followed by Bittu (31:26) and Sandeep (33:11).

10 km Race (Women): Neeta Rani clinched first place (36:37), Anita second (39:21), and Savita third (40:29).
The winners were felicitated by the Chief Minister with cash prizes.
