Haryana Government Increases Production Limits for Rabi Crops to Benefit Farmers
In a major step towards farmers’ welfare, the Haryana Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, has decided to increase the average production limit per acre for Rabi crops for the 2024-25 season. This move aims to assist farmers who previously faced difficulties selling their higher-yield crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) due to set production limits.
To address this concern, the state government formed a dedicated committee to review and recommend adjustments to Rabi crop production limits. Based on the committee’s findings, the Chief Minister has approved the revised production limits, which will be implemented during the 2025-26 Rabi procurement season.
Revised Production Limits for Rabi Crops
An official spokesperson provided details on the updated limits:
- Barley: Increased from 15 quintals to 16 quintals per acre
- Gram: Increased from 5 quintals to 6 quintals per acre
- Sunflower: Increased from 8 quintals to 9 quintals per acre
- Summer Moong: Increased from 3 quintals to 4 quintals per acre
- Lentils/Masur: Newly established production limit of 4 quintals per acre (previously had no fixed limit)
- Wheat: Production limit remains unchanged at 25 quintals per acre
The spokesperson emphasized that these changes were made in response to rising average yields and will provide substantial financial benefits to farmers growing barley, gram, sunflower, moong, and lentils. This initiative is expected to enhance farmers’ incomes and ensure fair MSP-based procurement.
