According to a notification issued by the Haryana Government, farmers can register for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif 2025 season until July 31, 2025.
Providing details, a spokesperson from the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department informed that farmers cultivating crops like paddy, millet, maize, and cotton are eligible for the scheme and must enroll before the deadline to benefit. The scheme safeguards farmers against potential crop losses caused by excessive rain, drought, pest attacks, hailstorms, or other natural disasters, ensuring they don’t suffer financial setbacks.
The spokesperson highlighted that the insurance premium for Kharif 2025 is as follows: ₹2,124.98 for paddy, ₹1,024.36 for millet, ₹1,089.74 for maize, and ₹5,435.05 for cotton. The scheme is optional for loanee farmers, and those not wishing to participate must submit a written opt-out request to their respective bank by July 24, 2025, a week before the enrollment deadline.
Additionally, when a loanee farmer chooses not to enroll, an OTP will be generated and sent to their registered mobile number via the portal. This OTP must be provided to the bank for the opt-out to be validated.
For non-loanee farmers, enrollment can be done at their nearest CSC (Common Service Centre). Required documents include the land deed (Fard), bank account details, Aadhaar card, sowing certificate, and proof of registration on the “Meri Fasal Mera Byora” portal. With these, they can complete their crop insurance registration smoothly at the CSC.
