Haryana approves a ₹298.43 crore green plan under CAMPA to plant 20 lakh saplings and restore 1,882 hectares. Focus on Aravallis, solar energy, and urban forests.
In a major stride toward environmental sustainability, the Haryana government has approved an ambitious Annual Plan of Operations (APO) worth ₹298.43 crore under the Compensatory Afforestation Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA). The decision, aimed at boosting the state’s green cover and climate resilience, was finalized during the 10th Steering Committee meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi.
20 Lakh Saplings to Transform Haryana’s Landscape
The heart of this green initiative lies in a massive afforestation drive. Under the CAMPA framework, the state will plant over 20 lakh saplings across 1,882 hectares of land. Chief Secretary Rastogi emphasized that this is not merely a financial allocation but a “strategic investment” in the environmental future of Haryana.
To ensure the long-term success of previous efforts, the plan also includes the maintenance and conservation of existing plantations across 4,518 hectares. This dual focus on new growth and the preservation of existing green belts is a key feature of the CAMPA strategy for 2026-27.

Miyawaki Forests and Solar Integration
Addressing the rising urban heat island effect, the government has integrated the Miyawaki technique into the CAMPA plan. Dense urban forests will be developed over 16 hectares in urban and semi-urban areas to improve air quality and provide natural cooling.
In a push for green energy, the plan also mandates the installation of 15 KW solar power systems at forest offices across all 22 districts. This move, funded by CAMPA, aims to reduce carbon emissions and lower the operational costs of the Forest Department.
Protection for Shivalik and Aravallis
The ecologically sensitive Shivalik and Aravalli ranges will receive special attention with an outlay of over ₹33 crore for catchment area treatment. This includes soil conservation, water harvesting, and the restoration of degraded landscapes. Furthermore, to strengthen on-ground protection, CAMPA funds will facilitate:
The establishment of 20 new forest check posts.
Deployment of 60 additional forest watchers.
Procurement of specialized wildlife rescue vehicles and patrolling units.
“Haritima” Awareness Campaign
To foster environmental consciousness among the youth, the state will launch the “Haritima: Hariyali ka Rang, Haryana ke Sang” program. Supported by CAMPA funds, this initiative will organize 70 eco-camps for students in classes 6 to 10, offering experiential learning at wildlife sanctuaries and ecotourism sites
