Chandigarh, July 15–

Haryana Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Sh. Aseem Goel announced that the state’s first self-defence centre for training daughters will be opened in Ambala City. Additionally, the Women and Child Development Department will launch its own FM channel named ‘Hamari Laado’, which will be the first of its kind in the country. He said that in each district, at least one ‘Chownk’ (roundabout) will be named as ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao ‘Chownk’.

Haryana Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Sh. Aseem Goel was addressing the state-level program of the Best Mother Award held in Ambala as the Chief Guest. On this occasion, he also honoured 442 best mothers.

On this occasion, he announced that to make daughters studying in government schools self-reliant in self-defence, the first self-defence centre under the ‘Main Bhi Laxmibai’ scheme will be opened at the Government Model Sanskriti School Police Line in Ambala city.

The Minister said that a state-level conference of women sarpanches will be organised soon, where they will be motivated to play a crucial role in improving the gender ratio in their villages. He also said that in every district of the state, a ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ chownk will be established like in Ambala. Soon, such a chownk will be constructed in Panchkula as well.

Haryana Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Sh. Aseem Goel further said that to spread the message of ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’, Anganwadi workers are being given badges with this slogan. They will wear these on their uniforms, thereby spreading the message to society. Both the central and state governments are continuously working to enhance the education, health, and dignity of women, he said.

Earlier, Commissioner and Secretary, Women and Child Development Department, Smt. Amneet P. Kumar, provided detailed information about the schemes being run by the department. She shared that there has been a significant increase in the budget to work for the development of children and women. Efforts are also being made for women’s empowerment, and under the Matratav Udyamita Yojana, loans up to Rs. 3 lakh are being provided. Director, Women and Child Development Department, Smt. Monika Malik, also shared her thoughts on this occasion.
