Haryana NEWS : Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Shri Harvinder Kalyan expressed immense pride in hosting the national conference of urban local body representatives from various states and union territories on the sacred land where Lord Krishna delivered the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. He remarked that this is a moment of honor not just for the Haryana Assembly but for the entire state. He added that the conference would act as an important platform for sharing successful models and development strategies adopted by different states, offering valuable guidance to urban local bodies nationwide.
Shri Kalyan made these remarks while delivering the welcome address at the inaugural session of the national conference of urban local bodies held in Manesar on Thursday.
The Speaker noted that the two-day event is focused on urban local bodies, Panchayati Raj institutions, women, and youth. He emphasized that the innovative practices and insights emerging from the deliberations during the conference would be adopted by public representatives in their regions. The learnings from Haryana would be shared throughout the country. He also highlighted that the resolutions adopted recently during the conference of presiding officers in Patna have been endorsed by Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini in his budget address.
In his welcome speech, Shri Kalyan stated that the main goal of this conference is to promote collaboration among all democratic institutions—Parliament, State Legislatures, Urban Local Bodies, and Panchayats—to strengthen democracy. He stressed that the ideas discussed during the event will help enhance the efficiency, engagement, and public-centric focus of legislative institutions, ultimately benefiting future generations.
During the inaugural session, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Shri Harvinder Kalyan and Deputy Speaker Dr. Krishan Lal Middha honored the Chief Guest and other dignitaries with copies of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita.
Urban Local Bodies Directly Serve the Public: Vipul Goel
Speaking at the conference, Haryana Urban Local Bodies and Revenue Minister Shri Vipul Goel highlighted that urban local bodies are the most immediate and essential link in delivering public services and maintaining direct interaction with citizens. He said these bodies, though the smallest administrative units, are the most crucial and responsive components of democracy, addressing the daily needs of people. He extended his gratitude to Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla, Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Shri Harvinder Kalyan, and all urban local body representatives from across India for their active participation and contributions to the event.
