Haryana government will introduce a special policy to promote organic farming on panchayati land, offering land and financial support to farmers.

The Haryana government, led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has announced that a special policy will be introduced next year to promote natural and organic farming on panchayati (village council) land across the state.

The initiative aims to encourage sustainable agriculture while improving soil health and increasing farmers’ income through long-term organic farming practices.

800 acres of government land reserved for organic farming

Under the proposed policy, approximately 800 acres of land owned by the agriculture department will be leased only to farmers who commit to practicing natural and organic farming for at least 10 years.

This move is expected to strengthen sustainable farming practices and reduce dependency on chemical-based agriculture in the state.

Financial assistance for certified organic farmers

Farmers certified by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) will receive financial assistance of ₹10,000 per acre per year for a period of five years.

The support is designed to encourage more farmers to transition towards organic farming and improve their economic stability.

Certification and monitoring system to be strengthened

To ensure proper certification and quality control, the Haryana State Seed Certification Agency will act as a designated certification body for organic farming verification.

This step is aimed at improving transparency and standardizing organic farming practices across the state.

Focus on sustainable agricultural development

Officials said the policy reflects the government’s commitment to sustainable agricultural development and environmental conservation.

The long-term goal is to position Haryana as a leading state in organic and natural farming practices in India.
