In view of the rising water level of the Yamuna River, Haryana Sports Minister Sh. Gaurav Gautam today visited more than half a dozen villages in Palwal and assured villagers not to panic but to remain cautious, as the government stands firmly with them.
Accompanied by the district administration team, Haryana Sports Minister began his tour from Bagpur village and concluded at Thanthri village. During the visit, he interacted with villagers in potentially waterlogged areas and reviewed the situation. While inspecting the embankment at Rajupur-Dostpur village, he gave necessary directions to officials. He assured the villagers of all possible assistance.
On his way back, he held a meeting in Bagpur village with senior district officials, departmental officers, village sarpanches, and other prominent people. He directed officials to ensure complete arrangements for electricity and water supply in the affected villages. The Irrigation Department was instructed to make prior arrangements to deal with waterlogging, including installing diesel and electric pump sets as required. The Animal Husbandry Department was asked to make preparations for the care of livestock, while the Health Department was directed to set up medical camps and ensure medicines and treatment for the people.
The Sports Minister said that water levels in the Yamuna may continue to rise, so people must take all necessary precautions. He added that the administration is working effectively and ensuring every arrangement. He noted that Palwal has witnessed such heavy rainfall after almost 35 years. All concerned officials have been instructed to provide every possible help to villagers in case of waterlogging. He further informed that the E-Kshatipurti Portal has been opened for farmers to report crop damage.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar Vashishth and other officials were also present during the visit.
