AAP Gujarat chief Isudan Gadhvi demands drought status for Dwarka over low rainfall and crop losses, along with fodder, water and loan relief for farmers.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat president Isudan Gadhvi has urged the Gujarat government to declare Dwarka district drought-affected at the earliest, citing inadequate rainfall, crop damage and growing financial distress among farmers.
Gadhvi made the demand during a press conference after visiting several villages and agricultural fields across Dwarka district over the past few days. He said his visits and interactions with farmers had highlighted serious concerns over rainfall, crop growth, irrigation and livestock feed.
Low Rainfall Raises Concerns Among Farmers
According to Gadhvi, farmers in Khambhalia, Okhamandal and Kalyanpur talukas are struggling due to insufficient rainfall.
Citing government rainfall figures, he said Okhamandal had received around 15 mm of rain, while Khambhalia recorded approximately 90 mm, Kalyanpur around 31 mm, and Bhanvad nearly 74 mm.
Gadhvi claimed that field visits indicated an even more difficult situation, with inadequate moisture in agricultural land affecting crop growth. He alleged that only a limited portion of the seeds sown by farmers had germinated.
According to the AAP leader, crops including cotton and groundnut are facing serious stress because of a lack of moisture in the soil.
Gadhvi Seeks Immediate Drought Declaration
Gadhvi said the rainfall shortage and reported crop damage should be assessed under the applicable government norms.
He demanded that the Gujarat government immediately declare Dwarka district drought-affected so that farmers facing losses can receive appropriate relief and support.
The AAP leader said he was raising the concerns of farmers along with party district president Ramjibhai Parmar and local farmers before the Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister.
Four Key Demands for Farmers
Gadhvi outlined four major demands aimed at providing immediate relief to farmers and livestock owners in the district.
1. Declare Dwarka Drought-Affected
The first demand is for Dwarka district to be officially declared drought-affected in view of low rainfall and alleged crop losses.
2. Provide Free Fodder for Livestock
Gadhvi called for an immediate supply of free fodder for cattle and other livestock, arguing that the shortage of grazing areas and fodder is creating additional difficulties for farmers and animal owners.

3. Release Water Through SAUNI Yojana
The AAP leader also demanded that water be released to the small and large irrigation reservoirs of Dwarka through the SAUNI Yojana.
Gadhvi referred to the water level in the Narmada reservoir and argued that water should be supplied to Dwarka’s irrigation reservoirs within 24 hours to provide relief to farmers facing water shortages.
4. Waive Farmers’ Government and Bank Loans
Gadhvi further demanded a complete waiver of government and bank loans for farmers who, according to him, are facing financial distress because of crop and seed failures.
He said farmers need immediate financial support to cope with the losses caused by inadequate rainfall.
Immediate Green Fodder for Panjrapole Shelters
Apart from farmers’ concerns, Gadhvi also raised the condition of cattle and other animals housed at Panjrapole shelters in villages across Dwarka district.
He called for the government to make immediate arrangements for adequate green fodder at these shelters, saying that livestock should not be left without sufficient feed during the difficult conditions.
AAP Seeks Government Action on Ground Situation
Gadhvi said the situation requires immediate attention from the state government, particularly in areas where farmers are reporting inadequate rainfall and crop stress.
The AAP Gujarat chief urged the authorities to assess the ground situation, provide relief to affected farmers, ensure fodder availability for livestock and improve water availability through irrigation reservoirs.
The demands come amid concerns raised by Gadhvi over the impact of rainfall shortages on agriculture and rural livelihoods in Dwarka district.
