Ram Temple Donation Theft Case: Kejriwal Announces Signature Drive Seeking Strict Action

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday announced a nationwide signature campaign over the alleged Ram Temple donation theft case, urging citizens to unite and demand strict action against those accused of financial irregularities linked to donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Addressing the media, Kejriwal alleged that the Centre was attempting to shield those responsible for the alleged misuse of temple donations. He said every follower of Sanatan Dharma has a responsibility to ensure that those involved in the Ram Temple donation theft case are brought to justice.

AAP to Launch Signature Campaign

Kejriwal said the party would launch a nationwide signature drive in which people will sign a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding strict punishment for the accused.

He also announced that the campaign would officially begin after a ‘Sundar Kaand’ recital to be organised at Japani Park in Delhi’s Rohini on Sunday.

Appealing to the public to participate in large numbers, Kejriwal said people must raise their voices to ensure accountability in the Ram Temple donation theft case.

Allegations Trigger Political Debate

The controversy surrounding the Ram Temple donation theft case began on June 7 when Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav alleged embezzlement in the management of donations received at the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The allegations were denied by then General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Champat Rai, who stated that the ongoing internal audit had not uncovered any significant irregularities.

SIT Investigation Leads to Arrests

Following the allegations, the Uttar Pradesh government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter. Based on its preliminary findings, eight individuals associated with counting cash and valuables donated at the temple were arrested.

Subsequently, Champat Rai resigned as the General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

Kejriwal Seeks Transparent Investigation

Reiterating his demand, Kejriwal said that the Ram Temple donation theft case should be investigated transparently and that those found guilty should face strict legal action. He maintained that public faith in religious institutions must be protected through accountability and justice.

The AAP’s nationwide signature campaign is expected to intensify the political debate surrounding the alleged financial irregularities, with the party seeking wider public support for an impartial investigation into the Ram Temple donation theft case.
