Following the incident, Saurabh Bhardwaj launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led administration, accusing it of failing to ensure accountability and alleging that building safety audits had become merely a formality.
In a statement posted on social media, Saurabh Bhardwaj questioned what lessons had been learned from previous building collapse incidents in Delhi. He alleged that despite claims of conducting citywide safety inspections, such tragedies continue to occur.

AAP Questions Effectiveness of Safety Audits
The AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj alleged that the government had claimed to identify unsafe buildings through safety audits but failed to prevent another fatal collapse. According to Bhardwaj, the inspection process did not achieve its intended objective and lacked effective implementation.
He further alleged that responsibility is often limited to junior officials after such incidents, while senior authorities avoid accountability. Bhardwaj claimed that repeated incidents highlight the need for stronger enforcement of building safety norms and greater administrative responsibility.
Four Dead, One Injured in Rohini Collapse
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when a four-storey building under construction collapsed in Rohini during heavy rainfall in Delhi-NCR.
According to officials, four people lost their lives in the accident, while one person sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment in hospital. Police have registered an FIR under relevant legal provisions and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.
Authorities are examining structural and construction-related aspects as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Waterlogging Also Draws Political Criticism
Apart from the building collapse, Saurabh Bhardwaj also criticised the BJP government over widespread waterlogging across Delhi following continuous rainfall.
He alleged that newly constructed roads were submerged soon after completion, raising questions about the quality of civic infrastructure and urban planning.
Heavy rain since Wednesday night led to severe waterlogging and traffic congestion in several areas of Delhi-NCR, including Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Burari, NH-24 near Akshardham, as well as parts of Noida and Ghaziabad. Multiple incidents of fallen trees also affected traffic movement in South Delhi.
Investigation Underway
Police officials have confirmed that an FIR has been registered and an investigation is in progress. Authorities are expected to examine whether construction standards, safety regulations or other factors contributed to the collapse.
The incident has once again brought attention to the importance of strict compliance with construction norms and regular monitoring of buildings under construction in the national capital.
