Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal slams Pratap Bajwa for insulting Sangrur, calling his remarks shameful and demanding an apology for disrespecting Punjab’s legacy.
The political atmosphere in Punjab has heated up once again as senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa. The confrontation follows controversial remarks made by Bajwa regarding the Sangrur region. During a live press conference in Amritsar, Dhaliwal described Bajwa’s statements as “shameful” and a reflection of “petty politics.”
Sangrur is Not Just a City, It’s a Legacy: Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal
Addressing the media, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal emphasized that Pratap Singh Bajwa must educate himself on the glorious history of the region before making derogatory comments. “The land of Sangrur has given Punjab great revolutionary warriors and sons who served with selflessness. It is a land that has always raised its voice against injustice,” Dhaliwal remarked emotionally.
The Cradle of the Anti-Corruption Movement
Targeting the Congress leader, Dhaliwal pointed out that whenever Punjab faced a crisis, the people of Sangrur were the first to step forward. According to Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, the massive movement to uproot the decades-long culture of loot and corruption in Punjab was born from the soil of Sangrur. He credited the current AAP government’s pro-people initiatives to the struggle and determination shown by the residents of this region.

Strong Objection to Bajwa’s Rhetoric
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal made it clear that while political disagreements are natural in a democracy, insulting the sentiments of the public and the historical significance of a region is unacceptable. He demanded that Pratap Bajwa issue a formal apology to the people for his “cheap rhetoric” and advised him to exercise restraint in his future public addresses.
AAP’s Struggle and the Sangrur Connection
Concluding the press conference, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal reiterated that the identity of the Aam Aadmi Party and its rise in Punjab are deeply intertwined with the active participation of Sangrur’s citizens. He asserted that the sacrifices made by the people of Sangrur are an indelible part of Punjab’s history, which cannot be tarnished by any leader’s opportunistic statements.
