Delhi CM Rekha Gupta launches ₹134 crore development projects, provides education aid to 15,706 workers’ children, boosts rural infrastructure and labor welfare in Delhi.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced several key initiatives aimed at empowering construction workers and accelerating rural development in the capital. In a grand public event held at Tyagraj Stadium, CM Gupta distributed educational assistance to 15,706 children of registered construction workers, transferring over ₹12.40 crore directly to their bank accounts.
During the event, CM Rekha Gupta also inaugurated newly built panchayat buildings in two villages and laid the foundation for 59 development projects across 37 villages. These projects, with an estimated cost of ₹134 crore, are set to strengthen infrastructure and civic amenities in rural Delhi, improving the quality of life for residents.
Delhi’s Growth Driven by Workers, Says CM Rekha Gupta
Addressing thousands of workers at the event, CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that Delhi’s growth is built on the hard work of its labor force. “Delhi is not just made of bricks and roads; it has been shaped by the hands of our workers. Ensuring their safety, dignity, and future is our top priority,” she said.
Criticizing previous administrations, she added that funds collected for labor welfare were often underutilized. “Our government is fully committed to the workers who contribute daily to the city’s development. A strong Delhi can only exist when its workers are strong,” she stated.

Educational Assistance for Workers’ Children
Under the Delhi Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board’s Education Assistance Scheme, registered workers’ children receive financial support to continue their education without disruption. The monthly assistance is as follows:

Class 1–8: ₹500 per month

Class 9–10: ₹700 per month

Class 11–12: ₹1,000 per month

Undergraduate students: ₹3,000 per month

Technical & professional courses (ITI, Polytechnic, Engineering, Medical, MBA): Up to ₹10,000 per month
Labor Welfare and Reforms
CM Rekha Gupta highlighted that Delhi offers one of the highest minimum wages in the country:

Unskilled workers: ₹18,456 per month

Semi-skilled workers: ₹20,371 per month

Skilled workers: ₹22,411 per month
To safeguard workers’ rights, over 44 labor laws are being implemented. The government has also launched a helpline (155214) for worker assistance and registered over 36 lakh unorganized workers on the e-Shram portal. Additionally, through 72 special operations, 1,028 child laborers have been rescued, ensuring better protection and rehabilitation.
CM Rekha Gupta’s initiatives mark a significant step towards empowering workers and improving rural infrastructure in Delhi, underlining the government’s commitment to inclusive development and social welfare.
