AAP’s Manoj Sorathiya accuses Harsh Sanghavi of police misuse & AI deepfake to target opposition in Gujarat local body elections.
In a scathing attack on the ruling administration, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat State Organization General Secretary Manoj Sorathiya has accused the state government of using “oppressive tactics” during the ongoing local body elections. Specifically targeting the Home Minister, Sorathiya claimed that Harsh Sanghavi is presiding over a system that prioritizes political vendetta over public service.
Allegations of Misconduct and Deepfake Technology
The controversy erupted following a video statement by Sorathiya, in which he alleged that the police force under Harsh Sanghavi misbehaved with the mother of AAP MLA Gopal Italia. Sorathiya further claimed that following this incident, the BJP’s IT cell resorted to creating an AI-generated audio clip to malign the party’s image.
“The public is well aware of the increasing atrocities committed by the BJP,” Sorathiya stated. He argued that the creation of fabricated audio is a desperate attempt to suppress the opposition as the local body polls gain momentum across Gujarat.
Political Vendetta and Candidate Harassment
Manoj Sorathiya highlighted several instances where AAP candidates were allegedly targeted by the state machinery. He mentioned that an FIR was registered against an AAP candidate in Rajkot leading to an arrest, a false complaint was lodged against a candidate in Gadhada, and two workers were detained in Kamrej.
The AAP leader questioned the neutrality of the Home Department, stating that Harsh Sanghavi should be a figure of pride for the state, but instead, the department is being accused of “shameful actions.” He remarked, “The BJP is fighting this election in the guise of the police. If they have worked for 30 years, they should ask for votes based on that work instead of using the police to intimidate us.”
