The 38th Surajkund International Crafts Fair, a grand showcase of colors, art, crafts, culture, music, and heritage, is set to begin tomorrow.
Union Tourism and Culture Minister Sh. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will be the chief guest, with Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini presiding over the event. Addressing a press conference at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi, Haryana Tourism and Heritage Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma announced that Madhya Pradesh and Odisha will be the theme states for this year’s fair, which has gained international recognition.
Dr. Sharma highlighted the growing global appeal of the Surajkund Fair, with increasing participation from foreign countries over the past decade. He emphasized that Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has always promoted national unity, culture, and art, and the fair is a testament to India’s diversity and cultural richness.
Global Platform for Artists and Craftsmen
The minister stated that the fair serves as a significant platform for international artisans to showcase their art, craft, and talent. Surajkund Mela stands out for its vibrant display of India’s handicrafts, handlooms, and cultural heritage.
Fair Tickets Available at Metro Stations
To enhance visitor convenience, an MoU has been signed with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), allowing metro stations to sell fair tickets. Special ticket counters will also be set up at the fair entrance. Ticket prices are ₹120 on regular days and ₹180 on weekends, with discounts available for children. E-rickshaw services have been arranged for elderly and specially-abled visitors.
Shuttle Bus Service for Easy Access
To encourage public participation, shuttle bus services will operate from Gurugram, Ballabhgarh, ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Connaught Place, and Tughlakabad metro stations. The fair will feature traditional food stalls from 15 states, along with popular private food brands.
Cultural Performances on Four Stages
Cultural performances will take place throughout the day across four stages: Chaupal-1, Chaupal-2, Mahastage, and Natyashala. Over 1,000 artists will present their talent, while traditional rural sports like Dangal, Kabaddi, and Kho-Kho will also be organized.
