Minister Harpal : Urges families to enroll their addicted members in drug rehabilitation centers.
Punjab Finance Minister and Chairman of the cabinet sub-committee leading the fight against drug trafficking, Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, announced on Saturday that the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ sub-committee has assigned specific responsibilities to each member to eliminate the drug problem in the state.
Addressing the media after the sub-committee meeting, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema outlined the anti-drug strategy. He stated that the state’s districts have been distributed among the four cabinet ministers of the committee, including himself, Aman Arora, Tarunpreet Singh Sound, and Laljeet Singh Bhullar, to intensify the crackdown on drug traffickers. Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, the fifth committee member, will oversee drug de-addiction efforts in the state.
The Finance Minister Harpal detailed that he will regularly visit Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Ropar, Tarn Taran, and Hoshiarpur to conduct meetings with civil and police officials, ensuring close monitoring of the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign. Likewise, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora will oversee Ludhiana, Patiala, Kapurthala, Mohali, Amritsar, and Jalandhar. Tarunpreet Singh Sound will monitor Sangrur, Barnala, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Moga, and Malerkotla, while Laljeet Singh Bhullar will focus on Faridkot, Muktsar, Fazilka, Mansa, and Ferozepur.
The Finance Minister Harpal urged families to admit their addicted members to drug rehabilitation centers. He emphasized that this aggressive campaign aims to dismantle drug supply networks, which pose serious health risks to addicts. He also reiterated the firm directives from Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal to decisively end drug trafficking and secure a promising future for Punjab’s youth.
Additionally, Minister Harpal Singh Cheema called for public cooperation, stressing that joint efforts between the government and the people are vital in eradicating drugs and ensuring a healthier, brighter future for the coming generations.
