The government prioritizes job creation and enhancing employability, implementing various initiatives to provide employment opportunities for the nation’s youth.
Significant investments have been made in programs such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), and several others, including Make in India, Start-up India, and Digital India. Additionally, large-scale infrastructure development in roads, railways, airports, ports, and waterways has contributed to job creation across multiple sectors.
To streamline employment services, the government operates the National Career Service (NCS) Portal, offering job listings from both private and government sectors, career counseling, vocational training information, and skill development programs through a digital platform. Furthermore, the Union Budget 2024-2025 introduced a Prime Minister’s package comprising five schemes aimed at generating employment and skilling 4.1 crore youth over five years with an allocation of ₹2 lakh crore. The 2025-2026 budget also emphasizes job creation in tourism, manufacturing, fisheries, and other industries, along with support for entrepreneurship and skill development.
The recruitment of vacant positions in various ministries and departments is an ongoing process. To accelerate this, the government has been conducting Rozgar Melas to fill vacancies across central ministries, public sector undertakings, autonomous bodies, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities. A total of 14 Rozgar Melas have been organized in 45-50 cities nationwide, resulting in the distribution of numerous appointment letters.
