Haryana CM Nayab Saini said that for past several years, the International Gita Jayanti Mahotsav has also been celebrated abroad, and continuing this tradition, upcoming edition will be held in Bali, Indonesia, from September 12 to 14.
He was addressing scholars at the Krishna-Kashyap Kurukshetra Tirthatan Dharmayatra organized at the Gita Gyan Sansthanam in Kurukshetra,International Gita Jayanti Mahotsav, under the chairmanship of Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Maharaj. The Chief Minister inaugurated the event with Gita Poojan.
Highlighting cultural preservation, he said the Kashmiri Hindu Prakosth has been playing an important role in safeguarding and promoting its heritage. He stressed that the youth must take the lead in carrying forward these traditions. This conference, he said, serves to uphold the glorious legacy of Kashmir, which remains closely tied to India’s soul.
CM Saini noted that Kashmiri Hindus have endured repeated displacement but never gave up their values and karma. Despite the mass exodus of 1990, their knowledge and resilience earned them recognition worldwide. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has deeply understood their pain and introduced unprecedented schemes for their rehabilitation.
He further said that the cultural bond between Kashmir and Kurukshetra is a reflection of India’s unity. He praised PM Modi for fulfilling the vision of ‘Akhand Bharat’ by removing Article 370 and Section 35-A, which also ensured property rights for Kashmiri women. The Haryana Government, he said, is also making efforts for education reservation and heritage protection of displaced Kashmiri families, nearly two lakh of whom live in Haryana and contribute to its development.
Congratulating the Kashmiri Hindu Prakosth for organizing the event, CM Saini lauded the role of Swami Gyananand Maharaj and the Gita Gyan Sansthanam in spreading the Gita’s teachings globally. He added that the principle of Nishkam Karma (selfless action) inspires India to achieve the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 and expressed confidence in the full rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus.
Speaking on the occasion, Swami Gyananand Maharaj said that by joining Kurukshetra, Kashmiris have further strengthened their spiritual and cultural connection. He announced that under the banner of Shri Krishan Kripa Seva Samiti, a grand Gita Mahotsav will soon be held in Srinagar. He emphasized Kashmir’s profound geographical and spiritual identity and said courageous initiatives have opened the path to lasting peace in the region.
The event was attended by former Minister Subhash Sudha, CM’s OSD Raj Nehru, Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Somnath Sachdeva, and several other dignitaries.
