Ola Fine
Ola countered that Jabez Samuel had mistakenly implicated the ride-hailing company rather than the driver directly.
Following an incident where the company’s driver allegedly pushed the passenger to terminate his journey midway due to impolite behavior, a Hyderabad resident has been awarded compensation of Rs 1 lakh by ride-hailing firm Ola, according to a report.
Jabez Samuel, together with his spouse and an assistant, climbed into an Ola taxi at ten in the morning for a four-hour ride that he had scheduled for personal business. Samuel asked the driver to turn on the air conditioning when he saw how dirty the car was not long after the trip started. The driver reportedly spoke harsh things to Samuel and declined.
The driver unexpectedly instructed the three to get out of the car after they had driven for around four or five kilometers. Samuel and his friends were taken aback by the driver’s actions. In order to avoid conflict, they complied quietly.
Samuel emailed a formal complaint, requesting reimbursement for his inconvenience as well as a refund. He discussed the trip with leaders in customer care as well. Even though he received calls requesting him to pay the debt, Samuel decided to forego more hassles and paid the amount due.

Ola response
Ola countered that Samuel had mistakenly implicated the corporation rather than the driver directly. The company claimed that “Ola Cab” is just the name of an online application and not a legitimate company, arguing that the lawsuit ought to be dropped. The driver’s actions, according to the local consumer complaints redressal authority, were unfair business practices and a service shortfall. So they gave Ola the order to give Samuel the money.
This case adds to the increasing number of Ola consumers who have received compensation. An Ola taxi’s air conditioning unit malfunctioned, thus a Bengaluru man sued the firm earlier in January 2023 and won Rs 15, 000.
Ola shuts global operations
According to media sources, Ola recently made the decision to discontinue its existing type of foreign operations in order to concentrate on growing its electric fleet within India. According to an Ola representative cited by TechCrunch, the company, backed by SoftBank, is reducing operations in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand in order to focus on its domestic business prior to an initial public offering (IPO).
