Olympic Games-2024, often referred to as the “Maha Kumbh of sports,” commenced in Paris today. India will be represented by a contingent of 115 athletes, with 25 of these athletes hailing from Haryana.
Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the players from the state and the entire country. He expressed confidence in their abilities and hoped they would excel in their respective events, bringing glory and honor to India on the global stage.
Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that the selection of 22 percent players from Haryana, which has 2 percent population, is a matter of great pride for the entire state of Haryana. He said that both the Haryana Government and its people recognize the immense dedication, hard work, and perseverance required to compete at this level. They are also aware of the physical and mental challenges athletes face while preparing for such prestigious events. Consequently, the state government is committed to continuously supporting the athletes through various incentive schemes.
The Chief Minister said that in recognition of the athletes’ efforts, the Haryana government awards the highest prize money in the country to Olympic medal winners. Gold medalists receive Rs 6 crore, silver medalists receive Rs 4 crore, and bronze medalists receive Rs 2.5 crore. Additionally, all participating athletes from the state are awarded Rs 15 lakh each.
