AAP leader Pravin Ram visited Gujarat’s flood-hit Ghed region, demanded an immediate crop loss survey and warned of a farmers’ protest over delayed relief.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Kisan Morcha State President Pravin Ram visited the flood-affected Ghed region along with party leader Kamleshbhai Pansuriya and the AAP Keshod team to assess the condition of farmers whose crops have suffered extensive damage due to prolonged waterlogging.
During the visit, the leaders interacted with local farmers through a live broadcast, highlighting their concerns and demanding immediate intervention from the state administration.
70% of Groundnut Crop Reportedly Damaged
According to Pravin Ram, continuous waterlogging over the past two weeks has severely affected agricultural fields in villages such as Panundar, Kherda, and nearby areas. He claimed that nearly 70 percent of the groundnut crop has been destroyed due to standing water.
He said many farmers had already suffered losses after their first sowing failed and were forced to purchase expensive seeds and sow their fields again by taking loans. Despite the situation, he alleged that government officials have not yet conducted an official damage assessment.
AAP Questions Delay in Government Survey
Pravin Ram criticized the administration for not carrying out on-ground inspections in the affected villages. He argued that if crop damage is not officially recorded, farmers may face difficulties receiving compensation or government relief.
He questioned why officials were not visiting the affected fields instead of relying on office-based reports and urged the administration to begin a comprehensive survey without further delay.

Demand for Better Rural Infrastructure
The AAP leader also raised concerns over poor infrastructure in the Ghed region. He said villagers have repeatedly demanded permanent cement concrete (CC) roads instead of roads that are damaged every monsoon season.
He further questioned the implementation of government-funded river deepening projects, asking for transparency regarding the expenditure allocated for flood prevention works.
Call for Accountability
Addressing farmers during the visit, Pravin Ram urged them to remain united and seek accountability from the administration. He said residents have the right to know how funds meant for river deepening and flood management have been utilized.
According to him, proper implementation of these projects could help reduce recurring waterlogging problems in the region.
Warning of Farmers’ Agitation
Pravin Ram warned that if the administration does not immediately begin a damage survey and announce relief measures for affected farmers, AAP will support farmers in launching a larger public protest.
He said the party would continue to raise farmers’ issues until appropriate action is taken and assistance reaches those who have suffered crop losses.
Focus on Farmers’ Relief
The visit reflects AAP’s continued focus on agricultural issues in Gujarat, with the party demanding faster crop assessment, timely compensation, improved rural infrastructure and greater transparency in flood management projects to protect farmers from recurring losses.
