Students at Punjab Bright Minds Punjab event in Ludhiana demand skill-based learning, financial education, and reforms in traditional exam system.
A meaningful dialogue was held today under the “Punjab Bright Minds” initiative in Ludhiana, where meritorious students interacted with Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia. The session focused on the future of education and the need for major reforms in the learning system.
During the discussion, students openly expressed that they do not want to depend solely on rote learning. Instead, they emphasized the need for a more practical and life-oriented curriculum that includes subjects like financial management, life skills, and skill-based education. According to them, education should prepare students for real-world challenges rather than just academic scores.
The students also raised concerns about the traditional examination system, stating that a three-hour exam cannot accurately evaluate a student’s true abilities, creativity, or potential. They suggested that the current assessment model should be reformed to include broader and more practical evaluation methods.

Many students also acknowledged the efforts made by the Aam Aadmi Party government in prioritizing education in Punjab. They expressed confidence that the ongoing reforms initiated under the leadership of the Mann government have brought visible improvements in government schools across the state.
They further stated their belief that sustained leadership is essential to continue and complete these reforms, ensuring that the education system in Punjab reaches its full potential.
Speaking at the event, both leaders listened carefully to the students’ suggestions and encouraged them to continue sharing their ideas. They reiterated the government’s commitment to transforming education into a more modern, skill-oriented, and student-friendly system.
