Punjab Budget 2026-27 allocates ₹2,000 crore to strengthen the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna under CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, providing cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh for families.
The government of Punjab has reinforced its commitment to universal healthcare by allocating ₹2,000 crore to the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna in the Punjab Budget 2026-27. The initiative, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is one of the state’s largest healthcare protection programmes aimed at ensuring that families can access timely medical treatment without facing financial hardship.
The enhanced allocation in the new Punjab Budget 2026-27 is expected to strengthen the reach and impact of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, enabling more residents across the state to benefit from comprehensive healthcare coverage.
Expanding Access to Cashless Treatment
Under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, eligible families in Punjab can receive cashless medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh at both government and empanelled private hospitals. The scheme was introduced to ensure that people do not delay necessary treatment due to financial concerns, especially during medical emergencies.
Over the past months, the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna has expanded steadily across the state, helping families manage healthcare expenses and access quality treatment when needed.
Coverage for Millions of Residents
Currently, the scheme covers nearly 65 lakh families in Punjab, benefiting close to 3 crore residents. This wide coverage makes the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna one of the most extensive healthcare protection initiatives in the state.
Officials reported that more than 9 lakh Sehat Cards have already been issued, allowing beneficiaries to access treatment at over 820 empanelled hospitals across the state. These hospitals include both government facilities and private healthcare institutions.
Thousands of Treatment Packages Available
The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna currently provides access to more than 2,300 treatment packages covering various medical conditions. These include heart diseases, cancer, kidney disorders, orthopaedic procedures and accident-related injuries.
Because treatment under the scheme is cashless, patients are not required to make any upfront payments, allowing families to focus on recovery rather than medical bills.

CM Bhagwant Mann Highlights Healthcare Vision
Speaking about the allocation in the Punjab Budget 2026-27, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann emphasized the importance of accessible healthcare for every citizen.
He said that families facing illness should not have to worry about financial resources before seeking treatment. According to him, the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna has already helped thousands of families who previously struggled to afford medical care.
Strengthening Punjab’s Healthcare Infrastructure
Along with expanding the scheme, the state government has also taken steps to strengthen healthcare services. In recent years, more than 1,500 doctors have been appointed in Punjab’s medical system, including over 600 specialists and more than 900 general physicians.
Authorities are also encouraging eligible residents to register for Sehat Cards at local service centres to benefit from the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna. Awareness campaigns and door-to-door outreach programmes are being conducted across the state to increase enrolment and ensure that more families can access the benefits of this healthcare initiative.
With the increased funding in the Punjab Budget 2026-27, the Punjab government aims to further expand the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, ensuring broader healthcare protection and improved medical access for millions of residents across the state.
