The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has intensified its focus on senior citizen welfare with the launch of district-wise health camps under the ‘Our Elders, Our Pride’ campaign. Highlighting the initiative, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized that these efforts are part of the government’s commitment to ensuring the health, dignity, and security of elderly residents across the state.
Dr. Baljit Kaur shared, “Senior citizens are a vital part of our society. Under the ‘Our Elders, Our Pride’ campaign, nearly 9,000 senior citizens have registered so far and directly benefited from health check-up camps organized in various districts of Punjab.”
Comprehensive Health Services for Seniors
The minister provided detailed insights into the services offered at these camps:

2,268 senior citizens received general health check-ups

1,241 availed orthopaedic consultations

2,607 underwent eye examinations

631 participated in yoga sessions

551 received homoeopathic treatment

791 benefited from Ayurvedic services
Further, under the ALIMCO scheme, 243 senior citizens were registered, with 89 receiving assistive devices such as wheelchairs, spectacles, and hearing aids. Additionally, 233 old-age pension forms were processed, and 306 senior citizen cards were issued during these camps.

District-wise Health Camps Across Punjab
Dr. Baljit Kaur mentioned that health check-up camps have been successfully conducted in Sri Amritsar Sahib, Barnala, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Moga, Mansa, Patiala, Rupnagar, and S.A.S. Nagar. Remaining camps are scheduled in Faridkot, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Malerkotla, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Sangrur, and Tarn Taran to ensure statewide coverage.
Financial Backing for Senior Welfare
The Punjab Government has allocated ₹7.86 crore under the State Action Plan for Senior Citizens to support this initiative. The funding ensures the organization of district-wise health camps, provision of medical check-ups, cataract surgeries, free assistive devices, pension form processing, issuance of senior citizen cards, and awareness campaigns about legal and social rights.
Commitment to Respect and Care for Elders
Dr. Baljit Kaur stated, “Senior citizens are the living heritage of society. Their guidance, experience, and sacrifices have shaped generations. The Mann Government believes that caring for elders is not just a welfare responsibility but a moral duty. Programs like ‘Our Elders, Our Pride’ ensure that every senior citizen lives with dignity, respect, and proper care.”
She urged families across Punjab to bring their elderly members to these camps, highlighting that participation ensures access to vital health and social welfare services.
