The weather system is expected to bring relief from humid conditions, while temperatures may fall by around 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the coming hours.
Heavy Rain Expected in Four Districts
The weather department has forecast heavy rainfall in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar. These areas may experience intense showers along with thunder and lightning.
Residents in these districts are advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and avoid unnecessary travel in areas prone to waterlogging.
Rain Expected Across Several Other Districts
Apart from the four districts under the heavier rain forecast, several other parts of Punjab are also likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.
The districts that may experience rain include Mohali, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Firozpur, Moga, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Bathinda and Mansa.

Temperature May Fall by 2 to 3 Degrees
The ongoing rainfall is likely to have a direct impact on temperatures. The IMD expects temperatures across several parts of the state to decline by around 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
On Friday, Punjab’s average temperature had already fallen by about 0.6 degrees Celsius due to rainfall. Despite the change, temperatures remain close to the seasonal normal.
Rupnagar Recorded the Highest Maximum Temperature
Rupnagar recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 35.8°C. Meanwhile, Bathinda recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 23.4°C.
The Punjab Yellow Alert indicates that weather conditions could remain unsettled in several areas, particularly during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Temperature Details of Major Cities
Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 32.7°C and a minimum of 27.1°C. Ludhiana registered a maximum of 33.4°C and a minimum of 25.8°C.
Patiala recorded a maximum temperature of 33.8°C, while its minimum temperature stood at 25.8°C. Pathankot witnessed a maximum of 33.7°C and a minimum of 24.8°C.
Faridkot recorded a minimum temperature of 26.9°C, while Firozpur’s minimum temperature was 25.7°C.
Rain to Bring Relief From Humidity
The expected rainfall is likely to provide relief from the humid weather conditions across Punjab. The drop in temperature could also make the weather more comfortable for residents.
However, the Punjab Yellow Alert means people should stay updated with local weather advisories, particularly in districts expecting heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
