11 individuals from Punjab are among 15 Indians being deported from Australia today. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann will receive them in Delhi and order an investigation into illegal migration agents.
In a significant development linked to illegal immigration, 15 Indian nationals are being deported from Australia today, out of which 11 belong to Punjab. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has confirmed that he will personally travel to Delhi to receive the deportees upon their arrival later tonight.
According to official information shared by the Chief Minister, the group also includes individuals from other states—two from Telangana, and one each from Haryana and Uttarakhand. Among the deportees from Punjab, one is reported to be a woman.
Government to Investigate Human Trafficking Network
Addressing the issue, CM Bhagwant Mann stated that the Punjab government will conduct a detailed investigation into the agents and intermediaries responsible for facilitating illegal migration. The deportees will be questioned to trace the route, documentation process, and the individuals who helped them travel abroad illegally.

The state administration is expected to collaborate with central agencies, including the Ministry of External Affairs, to identify and take strict action against the networks involved in fraudulent immigration practices.
Background of Deportation Cases
This development comes amid a broader crackdown on illegal immigration routes used by Indian nationals attempting to enter foreign countries through unauthorized channels.
Earlier, during a previous enforcement drive under the administration of former US President Donald Trump, 104 Indian nationals were deported from the United States. They were transported on a C-17 Globemaster aircraft and landed at the Air Force station in Amritsar.
Of these deportees, a significant number belonged to Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat. The group included families and young children, highlighting the human cost of illegal migration attempts.
At the Amritsar facility, security agencies completed verification, immigration checks, and customs clearance before handing the deportees over to Punjab Police. After formal procedures, they were transported to their native places under police supervision.
State’s Stand on Illegal Migration
The Punjab government has reiterated its commitment to tackling illegal immigration networks and supporting affected families. CM Bhagwant Mann emphasized that strict action will be taken against those exploiting vulnerable youth with false promises of overseas opportunities.
Authorities are now expected to intensify monitoring of travel agents and unregistered immigration consultants across the state.
