Raghav Chadha slams platforms over gig worker exploitation, demands fair pay, safety, social security, and dignity for delivery partners.
Raghav Chadha News: A nationwide debate has erupted after delivery partners across India went on strike demanding basic dignity, fair wages, safety, predictable rules, and social security. Raghav Chadha, Member of Parliament and prominent pro-labour voice, criticized major platforms for branding striking workers as “miscreants” and turning legitimate labour demands into a law-and-order narrative.
Chadha said in a statement, “Workers asking for fair pay are not criminals. And if your system needs police to keep running on its biggest day, that is not proof the system works. They are hostages with helmets, not employees.”
Nationwide Debate on Gig Worker Rights
Raghav Chadha’s intervention in Parliament has sparked discussions on gig economy labour rights, highlighting the need for transparent pay structures, social security, and workplace safety. He clarified his stance, stating that he is pro-business and pro-startups, but firmly against exploitation disguised as progress.
Raghav Chadha added, “Success cannot be built by squeezing the last ounce out of the people doing the hardest work. Platforms may celebrate record orders, but dignity and safety cannot be measured in numbers.”
On the Platforms’ Response
The MP Raghav Chadha criticized platforms for deflecting legitimate grievances as political issues. “Strange how everything becomes a ‘political agenda’ the moment it threatens margins or stock prices,” he remarked. He also addressed arguments claiming gig work is fair because so many people continue in the system, pointing out historical analogies like bonded labour and zamindari to highlight the flawed logic.

Safety and Accountability Concerns
Raghav Chadha emphasized that speed-driven incentive structures endanger both workers and the public. “When we celebrate a 10-minute delivery, we must ask who pays the price when something goes wrong — pedestrians, drivers, families on the road,” he said.
He highlighted the lack of transparency in payment systems, unpredictable incentives, and the ability of platforms to switch off livelihoods with one click, calling it control without accountability, not flexibility.

Call for Reform, Not Personal Attacks
Raghav Chadha condemned platforms’ coordinated social media campaigns and personal attacks on him and his family. “Do not waste time debating my lifestyle. Focus on improving the lifestyle of gig workers,” he said, urging companies to prioritize fair wages, insurance, social security, and predictable rules.
He concluded, “The question is simple. Will we build India’s growth on dignity and safety, or on pressure and insecurity? Gig workers are the invisible wheels of the Indian economy. Real progress is whether the people who make the system run can live with dignity.”
Raghav Chadha’s Stand
Raghav Chadha reaffirmed his commitment to continue the fight for gig worker accountability in and outside Parliament. “The workers who built these platforms order by order, kilometre by kilometre, deserve better than to be called ‘miscreants’ for asking to be treated as human beings,” he said.
