Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma lays the foundation for a ₹647.62 crore irrigation project in Sri Ganganagar and Phalodi, improving water supply for 3.14 lakh hectares and boosting agricultural productivity.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma is set to launch a major irrigation project in Sri Ganganagar and Phalodi today, aiming to revolutionize the state’s irrigation system and boost agricultural productivity. The project, costing ₹647.62 crore, will benefit farmers in both Rajasthan and neighboring Punjab.
CM Bhajanlal Sharma will begin his visit from Jaipur Airport at 11:30 AM and reach Suratgarh Airport by 12:20 PM. He will then proceed to Gajar Mandi via Sadhuvali Helipad and participate in the Ganga Canal Centennial Celebration at 1 PM, where he will lay the foundation for the large-scale reconstruction project.
Key Details of the Project
The ₹647.62 crore initiative involves the redevelopment of the Firozpur feeder and other critical irrigation infrastructure. Upon completion, the project is expected to provide water to approximately 314,000 hectares of farmland, ensuring improved crop yields and water management for thousands of farmers.
The reconstruction work includes CC lining from RD 0 to 168.23, rebuilding two head regulators, one cross regulator, nineteen oversi and DRC structures, and three railway overbridges. Additionally, surplus water from Harike Barrage will be directed to the Firozpur feeder, significantly improving water availability across the canal network.

CM’s Scheduled Visit and Engagements
After participating in the Ganga Canal centennial events at Gajar Mandi and Sadhuvali, CM Bhajanlal Sharma will leave Sadhuvali Helipad at 2:25 PM for Suratgarh Airport. He will then travel to Phalodi, attending a local program at Dhelana before departing for Jaipur at 6 PM.
This initiative demonstrates the Rajasthan government’s commitment to enhancing irrigation infrastructure, supporting farmers, and ensuring sustainable agricultural growth. By modernizing the canal system and improving water distribution, the project aims to empower the farming community and strengthen the state’s agricultural economy.
