Rajasthan government will examine recently created districts during Congress term

A cabinet subcommittee led by the BJP has been established by the Rajasthan government to examine the 17 districts and three newly formed divisions that were established under Ashok Gehlot’s previous Congress administration. The five-member subcommittee was announced by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, with Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa serving as the convenor.

A cabinet subcommittee headed by the Bharatiya Janata Party has been formed by the Rajasthan government to evaluate the state of 17 districts and three newly formed divisions that were made during Ashok Gehlot’s previous Congress administration. The state’s Revenue and Settlement Department issued the directive late on Wednesday evening.

Composition of Committees
The five members of the subcommittee are ministers Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Kanhaiyalal Meena, Suresh Rawat, and Hemant Meena; the convenor is Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa. The subcommittee was formed by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.

Congress creates new districts
Based on the recommendations of a high-level committee, the cabinet led by the then chief minister Ashok Gehlot approved the formation of 19 new districts and three new divisions in August 2023. Furthermore, the Congress administration declared in October that Kuchaman City, Sujangarh, and Malpura will be created as additional districts, bringing Rajasthan’s total number of districts to 53. Gehlot said that the administration committed to resolving delimitation concerns in the future and that these decisions were made in response to popular demand and the advise of the high-level panel.

The election win of the BJP
The BJP won the assembly elections in Rajasthan and took office in December 2023. In the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, the BJP won 115 out of 199 seats, and Bhajan Lal Sharma was named Chief Minister. Conversely, the Congress secured 69 seats.
