UP universities commit to mass yoga in an effort to break the Guinness Record.

In advance of International Yoga Day, 34 universities in Uttar Pradesh are attempting to break the Guinness World Record by pledging online to embrace yoga as a way of life.

Up to 34 universities and other higher education institutions in Uttar Pradesh, together with their degree colleges that are associated with them, will work together to create a Guinness World Record by making an online commitment to make yoga a regular part of their lives and practice it both alone and with their families. From June 12 to June 18, the Yoga Pledge portal will be accessible.

In a letter to the vice chancellors of the state universities, Sudhir M. Bobde, the governor’s additional chief secretary, said that 65.61 lakh people are connected to these establishments as students, faculty, staff, alumni, and their families.

It will be a noteworthy accomplishment even if 70% of this total (45.93 lakh) take part in this online pledge before International Yoga Day. We anticipate that this exercise will involve at least 20 lakh participants,” he stated.

“11.2 lakh was the previous Guinness World Record for this.” Bobde continued, “UP will create a new record if 20 lakh individuals take the commitment. Attendance at this event is strongly encouraged from 34 state universities and the institutions that are linked with them, including students, faculty, alumni, and families.

On June 6, Raj Bhavan in Lucknow hosted an online meeting of the core committee, which was established under the additional chief secretary’s chairmanship. On June 10, there was another meeting to talk about crucial issues for quickly setting the world record.

From June 12 to June 18 (until midnight), university officials, instructors, non-teaching staff, their families, and all students enrolled in or employed by any affiliated colleges or institutions may access the online portal by visiting the Online Pledge portal or by using the online link that was sent to them via WhatsApp or SMS.

Every university is required to take a “online oath” in order to accomplish its goals. According to Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, vice chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University in Kanpur, vice chancellors of all institutions will assess the daily “online oath taking” progress in connection to their university’s aim using the link that is delivered to the selected stakeholders via SMS or WhatsApp.
