Ravindra Jadeja added another major achievement to his illustrious Test career during India’s ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. The veteran all-rounder picked up two wickets in his opening 19 overs and reached the landmark of 350 Test wickets, becoming only the fifth Indian bowler to achieve the feat.

India entered the third day after posting 462 runs in their first innings. The visitors made an impressive start with the ball, putting Sri Lanka under significant pressure and reducing the hosts to 99/5 during the first session.

However, a crucial partnership involving Dickwella and Sonal Dinusha helped Sri Lanka recover. Amid the hosts’ fightback, Ravindra Jadeja produced a historic moment by completing 350 wickets in the longest format.

Jadeja Joins India’s Elite Test Bowling Club

With his latest milestone, Ravindra Jadeja has entered an exclusive group of Indian bowlers with at least 350 Test wickets.

Only four Indians had previously reached the mark. Anil Kumble leads the list with 619 wickets, followed by Ravichandran Ashwin with 537, Kapil Dev with 434 and Harbhajan Singh with 417.

Jadeja’s achievement places him among some of the greatest Indian bowlers in Test history and further underlines his consistency with the ball over a long international career.

Fourth Player to Achieve Unique Double

The milestone became even more significant because Ravindra Jadeja has also crossed another rare benchmark.

The Indian all-rounder has now joined an elite group of players who have accumulated more than 4,000 Test runs and 350-plus wickets.

Before Jadeja, only Kapil Dev, England’s Ian Botham and New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori had achieved the combination in Test cricket. The feat highlights Jadeja’s value as a genuine all-rounder who has contributed substantially with both bat and ball.

Sri Lanka Fight Back After Early Setbacks

India dominated the opening phase of Sri Lanka’s innings. Nishan Madushka Fernando was dismissed without scoring, while Lahiru Udara Igalagamage contributed 27 runs.

Dinesh Chandimal and Kamindu Mendis could not make a major impact either, scoring four and 14 runs respectively.

Sri Lanka then found stability through Dickwella and Sonal Dinusha. Dickwella produced an important 80-run contribution, while Dinusha continued to hold the innings together.

By the 75th over, Dinusha had moved to an unbeaten 98, keeping Sri Lanka’s hopes of a strong recovery alive.

India Aim to Finish the Job

With Sri Lanka attempting to rebuild its innings, the Indian bowling attack will be looking to claim the remaining wickets and strengthen its position in the Test.

For Ravindra Jadeja, however, the third day will remain particularly memorable. His 350th Test wicket has placed him alongside India’s legendary bowlers, while his all-round record has earned him a place in an even smaller group of Test cricketers.
