Realme 12 5G
About a month after Realme launched the Realme 12 5G and Realme 12 Pro+ 5G smartphones, the company has expanded its lineup with two new affordable products. These are Realme 12 5G and Realme 12+ 5G. Here’s everything you need to know about the two newest mid-range devices in the company’s lineup.
Realme 12 5G features and key specifications
The Realme 12 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chipset and is available in two storage variants: 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM, both with 128GB storage. Under the hood of the device is a 5000mAh battery with support for 45W SuperVOOC fast charging. Realme claims that you can charge the device up to 50% in around 30 minutes.
The Realme 12 5G features a 6.72-inch LCD display with FHD+ resolution, a switchable refresh rate between 45 Hz and 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 950 nits. This device doesn’t use the vegetable leather on the back of its more expensive siblings. For sound, the phone has two stereo speakers.
The great thing is that the Realme 12 5G also gets what Realme calls a “dynamic button”. The button on the device also works as a power button, so you can switch between camera, flashlight, airplane mode and do not disturb mode, among others. Inspired by the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max action button.
The Realme 12 5G has a dual camera setup on the back with a 108MP Samsung HM6 primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor attached to a large central camera island. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel punch-hole camera for selfies and video calls.
Key Features and Specifications of Realme 12+ 5G
The Realme 12+ is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset and is available in two storage variants: 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. Like the Realme 12 5G, the device is powered by a 5000 mAh battery.
This time, however, it supports 67W SuperVOOC fast charging. Also, the Realme 12+ 5G comes with a 3D VC liquid cooling system, unlike its more expensive siblings, the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+ 5G.
Strangely, the Realme 12+ comes with a slightly smaller 6.67-inch display. However, this is an AMOLED device. The display, on the other hand, has an FHD+ resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, a maximum brightness of 2000 nits and HDR 10+ certification.
The Realme 12+ 5G features Rainwater Smart Touch technology, similar to the Aqua Touch screen on the OnePlus 12, which prevents ghosting and enables easy navigation even when the screen is wet. In addition to the IP54 standard for water and dust resistance, this phone can easily withstand adverse weather conditions. Unlike its cheaper sibling, this device has a vegetable leather back and a clean metal surround around the entire camera island.
As for the optics, the Realme 12+ 5G features a triple camera setup in a large circular camera island at the back. It includes a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 main sensor with OIS support, an 8-megapixel periscope telephoto sensor and a 2-megapixel portrait bokeh sensor.
Both Realme 12 5G and Realme 12+ 5G run on Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14.
