AAP leader Sanjeev Jha accuses the BJP of using women empowerment for political gain. Read about the allegations regarding unfulfilled promises and lack of genuine reform
The political discourse in the national capital has reached a boiling point as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and senior leader Sanjeev Jha has launched a sharp offensive against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In a detailed critique of the current administration’s policies, Jha accused the BJP of reducing the vital cause of women empowerment to a mere electoral strategy, alleging that the party prioritizes its political image over the actual safety and rights of women.
The senior leader Sanjeev Jha emphasized that the lack of sincerity in the BJP’s approach is evident from its failure to engage in meaningful dialogue with the opposition to draft inclusive gender policies. He argued that if the government were truly dedicated to women empowerment, it would focus on increasing the representation of women in core decision-making bodies rather than limiting their roles to symbolic gestures on public platforms.
One of the most significant points raised by Sanjeev Jha involves the unfulfilled financial promises made during the election cycle. He highlighted the discrepancy between the BJP’s pre-poll assurance of providing ₹2,500 monthly assistance to women and the reality of the current administration’s budget, which has yet to operationalize such schemes. According to Jha, this failure proves that women empowerment is being used as a “political shield” to mask a lack of substantive action.

The AAP leader Sanjeev Jha further stated that the public is now more informed and can easily distinguish between genuine reform and political propaganda. He noted that while the BJP speaks of honor and empowerment in speeches, the ground reality for women in Delhi remains one of insecurity and administrative neglect. This growing awareness among the electorate, he claimed, will lead to a backlash against those who treat sensitive social issues as mere campaign fodder.
Concluding his statement, Sanjeev Jha called for a complete overhaul of how gender-based policies are implemented in the capital. He demanded that the administration move beyond slogans and take concrete steps toward the economic and social upliftment of women. By focusing on the rhetoric of women empowerment without delivering on financial and security commitments, the BJP is, according to Jha, doing a disservice to the very demographic it claims to support.
