AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj questioned the Delhi government’s bicycle purchase and sought disclosure of the make, model and procurement details.
Saurabh Bharadwaj has raised questions over the Delhi government’s bicycle procurement, urging Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to disclose the make and model of the bicycles purchased by the government.
In a public statement, Bharadwaj said that once the make and model are revealed, anyone can independently verify the bicycle’s retail price on e-commerce platforms and compare it with wholesale prices offered by distributors.
Questions Raised Over Purchase Cost
The AAP leader referred to a statement allegedly made by a BJP government spokesperson, claiming that the government had purchased a higher-end model of bicycles at ₹6,957 per unit. He further claimed that around 1.30 lakh bicycles were procured under the purchase.
CM @gupta_rekha, please tell the make and model of the cycle.
Anyone can verify the cycle’s retail price from Amazon and wholesale price from distributors.

Bharadwaj argued that making the product specifications public would help ensure transparency and allow citizens to assess whether the procurement was carried out at a reasonable price.
Demand for Transparency
Calling for greater accountability in public spending, Bharadwaj urged the Delhi government to disclose complete details of the procurement, including the bicycle brand, model, purchase price, and procurement process.
He said that government purchases funded by taxpayers should remain transparent and open to public scrutiny, enabling citizens to independently verify the facts.
