Arvind Kejriwal will march to the PM’s residence with a petition signed by over 2.33 lakh people, demanding changes to the Centre’s ethanol policy.

Arvind Kejriwal has announced that he will lead a march to the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to submit a public petition opposing the Centre’s ethanol policy. According to Kejriwal, more than 2.33 lakh people have signed the online petition, which he described as a strong public response against the current policy.

Addressing the media on Monday, Kejriwal said he plans to leave his office at 12:00 PM with a group of around 100 supporters to personally hand over the petition to the Prime Minister. He said the objective is to explain why the existing ethanol policy requires reconsideration.

Kejriwal Raises Concerns Over E20 Fuel Policy

The AAP chief argued that the present ethanol blending policy could create difficulties for vehicle owners and consumers. He maintained that people should have the freedom to choose between E20 fuel and regular petrol at fuel stations.

Kejriwal also demanded that E20 fuel should be priced lower than regular petrol to encourage voluntary adoption. In addition, he said the retail price of petrol should be reduced to below ₹84 per litre.

Calls for Limited Protest Participation

Referring to the planned march, Kejriwal said there is no need for a large crowd to participate. He stated that only around 100 volunteers who are willing to face possible police action or detention would accompany him to the Prime Minister’s residence.

He also invited interested supporters to contact him through social media if they wished to join the march.

Appeal on Future Vehicle Purchases

During his address, Kejriwal urged citizens to carefully consider future vehicle purchases until E100-compatible vehicles become widely available in India. He claimed that consumers should not be forced to bear additional costs due to changes in fuel policy and stressed the need for a transition that prioritises public convenience.

The proposed march marks the latest step in the Aam Aadmi Party’s campaign seeking changes to the Centre’s ethanol fuel policy, with the party urging the government to review its implementation and pricing framework.
