Saurabh Bhardwaj slams CM Rekha Gupta over the failure of the Private School Fees Regulation Act and demands an FIR against DPS school for illegal fee hikes.
Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj has launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Delhi Government, accusing Chief Minister Rekha Gupta of surrendering to the private school lobby. As thousands of parents struggle with arbitrary fee hikes for the 2026-27 session, Bhardwaj questioned the government’s refusal to act against “rogue schools” and the apparent failure of the Private School Fees Regulation Act.
“How Many Parents Can Afford High Court?”
Addressing a press conference, Bhardwaj highlighted the plight of middle-class families who are being forced into legal battles to protect their children’s education. He pointed out that while elite schools have the resources to hire senior advocates, ordinary citizens are left helpless.
“I want to ask CM Rekha Gupta: How many private school parents can afford the money and resources to approach the High Court every time a school hikes fees illegally?” Bhardwaj asked. He alleged that by forcing parents to seek judicial intervention, the BJP government is effectively abdicated its responsibility to regulate the education sector.
The Failure of the Private School Fees Regulation Act
The AAP leader termed the Private School Fees Regulation Act, enacted by the BJP government, as a “scripted drama” designed to benefit school owners. He claimed that despite the law’s existence, schools are openly defying the state’s authority.
Questions for CM @gupta_rekha
How many Pvt school parents can afford money & resources to approach High Court ?

What happened to their “Pvt School Fees Regulation Act” , is it so ineffective ?
Why has there been on FIR…

“What happened to the tall claims regarding the Private School Fees Regulation Act? Is it so ineffective that it has actually legalized the 20% to 80% arbitrary fee hikes imposed in 2025?” Bhardwaj remarked. He further noted that the government’s recent “surrender” in court has rendered the Private School Fees Regulation Act inoperative for the current session, leaving parents at the mercy of the “education mafia.”
Why No FIR Against DPS School?
Raising the specific case of Delhi Public School (DPS), where fee disputes have led to student harassment, Bhardwaj demanded to know why criminal action hasn’t been initiated.
“Why has there been no FIR against DPS school management despite blatant violations of government guidelines? Is the Rekha Gupta government so compromised that it cannot even order a police investigation into these rogue schools?” he questioned. Bhardwaj emphasized that without an FIR against DPS school and similar institutions, the message being sent is that private schools are above the law.
Collusion Allegations and Call for Accountability
Bhardwaj alleged a deep-seated nexus between the BJP leadership and private school managements. He argued that the Private School Fees Regulation Act was intentionally drafted with loopholes to allow schools to collect unregulated fees.
“This government has legalised the loot of the middle class. If the Private School Fees Regulation Act cannot stop a single school from arm-twisting parents, it is nothing more than a piece of paper,” Bhardwaj concluded. He warned that AAP would take to the streets if the government continued to ignore the demand for an FIR against DPS school and a complete rollback of unapproved fee hikes.
