Grand Shantikunj Centenary celebrations inaugurated in Haridwar with CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Minister Gajendra Shekhawat in attendance.
The revered Gayatri Teerth Shantikunj in Haridwar has begun its grand centenary celebrations of Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma, marked by the lighting of the eternal flame (Akhand Jyoti) and a special ceremony at the Bairagi Camp. The inauguration saw the presence of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
During the event, CM Dhami praised the Gayatri family for transcending organizational boundaries, calling it a powerful movement that inspires individual growth, social upliftment, and national progress. “Pilgrimage sites like Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Adi Kailash are the very heartbeat of India. Celebrating this centenary in such a sacred environment sends a strong message of cultural revival, spiritual values, and the legacy of practice and devotion,” he added.
CM Dhami highlighted that the centenary is a tribute to Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma’s life of selfless service, austerity, and relentless spiritual pursuit. “Her life was a beacon of sacrifice and discipline, guiding countless individuals toward a purposeful and enlightened life,” he said.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat described the celebrations as a milestone in building a new era of service, discipline, and cultural ethics. He emphasized that the foundation of a strong civilization lies in nurturing moral values, discipline, and selfless service in society. “The centenary serves as a unique initiative to awaken collective consciousness and inspire future generations,” he added.
Vice-Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Dr. Chinmay Pandya, said that the centenary is not just a ceremonial event but a spiritual journey reflecting the vision of Yuga Rishi Acharyashri. He noted that the celebrations offer individuals an opportunity to rediscover themselves and their duties, opening doors to personal growth and destiny.
