Cannes Controversy: Sonam Chhabria Accuses Sufi Motiwala of Public Mockery
Actor and host Sonam Chhabria has publicly accused digital creator Sufi Motiwala of being “two-faced,” criticizing him for mocking her publicly while acting polite in private messages. The feud between the two escalated after Sufi mocked Sonam’s Cannes Film Festival look, which featured a white cape listing significant Indian tragedies.

Sonam shared screenshots of private chats with Sufi to highlight what she calls his double standards. She wrote, “He DMs friends to give explanations, is all nice in private, but will mock you in public.” She also revealed that she had previously ignored Sufi’s mockery of her role in a web series.
The controversy began when Sufi, known for reaction videos, referred to Sonam dismissively as “that girl” in a viral clip mocking her Cannes outfit. Sonam expressed disappointment that instead of reaching out to her privately, Sufi chose to make a public joke, gaining millions of views off her appearance.
“Remember me? I’m sure you do, as you gained a million views because of me in a day with the trash videos on my Cannes look,” Sonam wrote in a message shared publicly. “It was very uncool of you to troll me for my Cannes attire the way you did. You could’ve called me or dropped a text rather than making it dirty like you did.”
Sufi Motiwala, who recently appeared on Karan Johar’s reality show The Traitors, has not yet responded to Sonam’s accusations.
