Suchika Tariyal has taken an unconventional route to the top level of MMA. She began her MMA journey in 2017 but later stepped away from professional competition for several years.
During that period, she remained active in combat sports, competing in judo and Ju-Jitsu. Her continued involvement in these disciplines helped her maintain a competitive career before eventually making her return to professional MMA.
In 2024, Suchika returned to professional MMA after signing a multi-year deal with BRAVE Combat Federation in the women’s strawweight division. She made her professional comeback at BRAVE CF 92 in Bahrain in December 2024.
Eight-Time National Judo Champion
Born in Rohtak, Suchika Tariyal established herself as a successful judoka before making her mark in MMA. She has represented India at more than 20 international competitions and has won the National Judo Championship eight times.
Her international achievements include gold medals at the 2019 Commonwealth Judo Championships and the 2019 South Asian Games.
Suchika began training in judo at the age of 12. Reports have stated that an eve-teasing incident motivated her to learn the sport for self-defence. What began as a means of protection eventually developed into a highly successful sporting career.
She also competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in the women’s -57kg judo category, narrowly missing out on a podium finish.
