Senior BJP leaders Sunil Cham and George Sagar join AAP in Phagwara and Jalandhar with hundreds of supporters, boosting party strength in Doaba.
A significant political development has emerged from Phagwara and Jalandhar, where senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (Bharatiya Janata Party) along with hundreds of their supporters officially joined the Aam Aadmi Party (Aam Aadmi Party), marking a notable shift in the political landscape of Punjab’s Doaba region.
The leaders who joined include Sunil Cham, a senior BJP figure with 31 years of political experience and former Chairman of the Improvement Trust, and George Sagar, BJP Mandal President from Jalandhar. Both leaders, along with their supporters, were inducted into AAP during a formal joining program held in Jalandhar.

The event was attended by senior AAP leaders including Deepak Bali and Jalandhar Cantt constituency in-charge Ravinder Kaur Khaira, who welcomed the new members into the party.
According to party representatives, the joining reflects growing public confidence in the governance model and development-focused policies of AAP in Punjab. Leaders stated that the inclusion of experienced political figures will further strengthen the party’s organizational structure at the grassroots level.
The new entrants expressed that they were influenced by AAP’s governance approach, development initiatives, and emphasis on transparent administration. They said that the party’s focus on public welfare and development-driven politics motivated their decision to switch allegiance.
Senior AAP leadership, including Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, emphasized that the party continues to expand due to its pro-people policies and commitment to development. He stated that individuals dedicated to public service are always welcome in the party.
