UP CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurates Ashok Leyland EV plant in Lucknow, calling UP a results-driven investment hub. State attracts global investors with e-buses, startups, and green mobility initiatives.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Ashok Leyland’s new electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Lucknow, highlighting the state’s transformation into a results-driven, investment-friendly hub. The event was also attended by Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises H.D. Kumaraswamy and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The factory, spread over approximately 70 acres in Sarojini Nagar, will manufacture e-buses, e-travelers, and e-loading vehicles. After the inauguration, CM Yogi took a ride in one of the electric buses to showcase the plant’s operational capabilities.
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi Adityanath said, “This is a significant moment for Uttar Pradesh. I congratulate the Hinduja family for this investment. Over the past eight years, the state has moved from being a region of unlimited potential to one that converts potential into tangible results. Today, UP is not only a favorite destination for domestic investors but also attracts global investments.”
He added that Uttar Pradesh has already received investment proposals worth ₹45 lakh crore and has become a global hotspot for industrial and infrastructure development. “With 55% of India’s expressways in UP, rapid rail projects underway, and over 18,000 startups operating in the state, the development trajectory is remarkable,” he said.
Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy praised the initiative, stating, “This plant is not only a milestone for the state but also a major step towards a self-reliant India and the promotion of electric mobility. It contributes to India’s goal of reducing carbon emissions.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also lauded CM Yogi Adityanath, saying, “Under CM Yogi’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh has achieved excellence in governance and industrial growth. The launch of Ashok Leyland’s EV plant is a landmark moment for the state’s industrialization. Investments like these will provide local youth with employment opportunities and strengthen India’s manufacturing capabilities, including projects like the BrahMos missile production.”
He further added, “Uttar Pradesh, once associated with law and order challenges, has now emerged as a preferred destination for investment. The state’s focus on law, governance, and industrial growth is a model for other regions.”
The new EV plant is expected to boost the state’s economy, create jobs, and support India’s green mobility goals, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a key player in the country’s transition towards sustainable and advanced transportation solutions.
