Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a UP Free Bus Travel Scheme for Women, providing women in the state with free travel on government buses. The initiative was announced during a programme in Lucknow and has been named ‘Lokmata Ahilyabai Nishulk Bus Yatra’ in honour of 18th-century ruler Ahilyabai Holkar.
The chief minister said the name reflects Ahilyabai Holkar’s contribution to women’s self-reliance, effective governance and the preservation of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage.

Speaking at the event, Yogi Adityanath highlighted the historical contribution of Ahilyabai Holkar and said her life continues to serve as an example of women’s empowerment.
